ICAP Fellows Association Statement on the Inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris
Washington, DC — The ICAP Fellows Association congratulates Joe Biden on his inauguration as the 46th President of the United States and Kamala Harris on her inauguration as 49th Vice President of the United States.
President Biden, who has dedicated his life to public service, has taken office during a historic moment of national strife. He has chosen to lead with empathy and has begun to put together the most diverse administration in our nation’s history. We recognize President Biden’s commitment to ensuring that his administration represents the fabric of our nation.
We celebrate the momentous nature of Vice President Kamala Harris’ inauguration. As the daughter of Indian-American and Jamaica-American immigrants and civil rights activists, she is the first woman, first Black person, and first person of South Asian descent to become Vice President. As a graduate of Howard University, she is the first Vice President to have graduated from a Historically Black University.
We wish them great success in leading our country forward.
