On Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 5:30-6:45 PM EST, the ICAP Fellows Association hosted an event titled “Corporate Sector Impact: The Case of Racial Equity” moderated by the ICAP Fellows Association Board’s inaugural intern, Garvey Goulbourne. The wonderful panelists included:
- Anna Koob: Director of Research Standards, Candid
- Effenus Henderson: CEO, Henderworks, Inc.
- Barbara Frankel: Senior Director/Co-Lead of Insights at Seramount
The event explored the impact of the corporate sector and foundations on racial equity. Considering philanthropic pledges to address racial equity have reached many billions of dollars since the murder of George Floyd. During the event, the question of assessing the impact of these pledges was explored through an examination of research into and analysis of these initiatives.
Some questions for exploration included:
What Is superficial vs. sustainable change? Who are the deciders? Is the grassroots level being reached? Who can really access these funds?
